I'm going to be fitting a dual cylinder brake master (or getting one fitted if it means I have to buy half a brake specialists workshop tools to do
it) to my 64 bug and also I want some braided lines.
First--what brand of master is best to use and easiest to fit , VW , or is there another one thats better ( eg I once put a Ford Cortina TC master in
a Triumph TR6, the Ford cylinder did exactly the same job , was OE quality , not aftermarket crap and was less than a third of the price of the
Triumph OE part.
Second---How hard is this change over ? I looked but couldn't find a link in tech--probly looking in the wrong place.
Third----Where can I get braided lines for an early type 1 from ,(these I can fit myself no problem) I haven't started looking yet--- somebody out
there may just be able to save me a heap of time phoning around I live in (D) Ipswich QLD.
Any advise here most gratefully received,
Cheers,

The dual cylinder of a later beetle is basically a straight bolt on and very easy to do.As for braided lines....go to a brake place and get them made.Make sure they are certified though and are branded as such..
Braided brake lines are illegal in NSW. Thought you should know in case it's the same in Qld.
They have to be certified....that is you can't buy a braid kit and make them in your back yard.
You can use certified braided lines in NSW.

Thats why u deal with someone you can talk with
Try Pirtek i am sure your local shop will be able to do the job and make what ever length you need
:bounce a bit of perhaps useless information.
Well after a bit of a run around I've been advised by someone who used to race bugs---a lot --and knows much better than I that braided lines are not
realy necessary , just make sure that your rubbers are in good nick , so save your money. (reminds me of something not vehicle related atall)--however
a dual circuit master cylider is not a stupid idea-- so one is going in next week--I must confess that I was suprised at the cost of the master but
wieghed against the cost of poor or failing brakes it's still cheap at the price.
Custom made braided brake lines can be got from a liscensed local brake and clutch shop for $55 a corner, and as for BF
Goodrich-------------------.
Cheers all,
