Water Bottle - what am i missing
Bizarre - June 22nd, 2007 at 09:34 PM

I have a late L bug with the self powered windscreen washer.

What am i missing??

I have the bottle with the connection on the bottom and tube going off from the bottom of the bottle, to the dash and onto the nozzle

I bought a connector the other day that connects to the wheel but i cant see how it connects to the bottle.
Almost have but it is either the wrong piece or i need something else or.............

Anyone got a picture of a complete set up??

One I wrecked had a little plastic cylinder that went in there from memory. Correct me if Im wrong but I think it was a one way valve. If need be I can look at home and see if I can find it.

the long bit in the 2nd pic is a valve

but any thing you have to help would be good

Barry,
from memory Super and L bug washer bottles dont connect to the spare. The cap for the bottle has no nipple but there should be two nipples on the bottle High and low. The low one goes to the washers via the switch, and the higher to a valve mounted on the bottle bracket to presurise the bottle with air (pipe and valve you are holding). It is possible your existing system is a mixture of early and late pieces, and why there is a connection on the cap.

To make what you have work just add the connection you bught to the cap and then connect it to your spare.

My old 74L was the same as this.

The black hose of the top is just rubber.
Nothing is there to activate the tyre valve inside the threaded piece.

I reckon there is a piece that pushes in to the rubber hose on the top that then screws onto the threaded piece.

Yeah - but i realised when cleaning the front i was "almost" there.
Then the tube connector came up on ebal the other day and i got that.

Just want to finish it off so as i have all the bits

i think i've got a few lying round to if u have no luck
make sure all ur hoses are in good order
when i bought my 74L it was hooked up still and when i tried it a nice jet of water sprayed out from my steering column LOL
the bottle caps have a regulator thing so they stop the flow when the spare gets down to 30PSI but none of the ones i have ever did
dont ask how i found that out...

Hi Barry

Go electric, the pneumatic stuff is hopeless. Read this http://www.clubvw.org.au/how_to_modify_those_windscreen_w.htm
