Help Diagonal Arm
Spellbound - July 20th, 2007 at 08:53 PM

Hi All,'

Are the pivot bolts on the rear diagonal arm of a 76 Bug threaded - as in.....do they unscrew?? I have a 17mm hex bit for my driver and I can't get the bastards to budge an inch. Im now wondering if hey are just simply fused with crap. I have soaked extensively with WD40 to no avail.

I need them out tonight so any advice would be greatly appreciated

Cheers All :)

Yes they are threaded, you will need a long bar or a rattle gun.

the factory peened the heads in 3 or so spots to stop them backing out
i once bought a bug that had the bolt missing :o
so make sure u peen them again when u put them back in

Excuse my ignorance - peened??

Are you suggesting that I need to hammer it out? How do you suggest I do that?

na just that they have had notches hammered into them
i use a 17 bit that fits into a 1/2 drive then get a nice bit of pipe
