Firstly I'd like say hello to all you nuts out there who enjoy their rides as much as I do (even when it
ain't runnin right)
Which is one reason that I have finally got me onto this forum. Has anyone actually shoved a 1970's Combi 2ltr fuel
injected motor into a type III? I have received some advice from a few people but there are some questions that are running through my head, as well
as the fear of the cost to my already empty pockets. What I've been told is that: 1. an 1800 flywheel is needed and bolts straight on. If so,
what clutch and pressure plate and thrust bearing do or can I use? Will the gearbox output shaft thingy be the right length and width (who said size
isn't important?)? And will the standard exhaust be ok under the little fasty's body?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
Sorry, can't help with any tech help there,
but welcome to the forum, you'll love it here.
Thanks Steve
keep on bugin'

hey man thanks!
I'm on it

Not that I can help, But I have seen one around Brissy with a type 4 motor in a type 3 wagon. From memory it used the type 3 dual carbs though. Maybe
some one else knows more about it.
It did look like a tight fit though, some cutting may be needed.
Yeah well I'm driving around in a body that's pretty much too far gone at the moment, I have a near perfect shell ready for some prep and
color. So some practice cutting won't kill me.
Hey! I might even cut the roof off of it.
:o
Nah, that's just sleep dep' talkin'
If you find out any info though.....
no expert but from what i know
u need to make ur own tinware (someone offered to do it for me for $150 and also the standard engine cover will sit to low so a new one of them needs
to be made(not sure about EFI though but with carbs u do) not sure about this in a early model but in a late model with IRS u need to change the angle
of the motor so it tucks in nicely (optional)
hope this helps
cheers

I had a look at Toms Notch on that link you supplied Waltermitty, went inside out and upside down, it took me to some pretty interesting sites (I can
