At the moment Im only getting 1/3 of my acceleration, The original accelerator cable/wire guide pipe was worn through on the bends, allowing watter and dirt into the tube. Even after cleaning it out the new wire when put into the tube got caught in worn cuts and jammed. Any one had similar probs and how did u fix it ? ta muchly Ree :cussing

In one of my " cheap scate " moments, Broke accelerator cable,
Had to fix it quick so went to the Local Hardware where I found Different thicknesses of cable.
Me thinks why not replace with a bigger diameter cable, as long as its thinner than the carb end rod - should go through tube Ok.
So I put in this 3mm thick multistrand cable, heaps of grease, made a clamp to attach a loop through the pedal lever end.
It is still on car 2 years later , running fine.
The larger cable will not fall into the wear slots - Hopefully, and may well do the trick for you.

I put a new cable in, its called slippery cable and looks similar to a heavy pushbike brake cable with a stranded steel inner cable housed in teflon and an outer spiral shield sheith, but I had probs anchoring the ends, the teflon wanted to come out and was jamming the inner cable, I needed to get some proper end caps made....this is where Im up too..no more time this weekend, maybe next, "sigh" another week Kombis off the road.

hey sis, I think the problem is in the alignment of the pedal. From memory when i looked at your car last i was surprised that the engine revved at all. The pedal when pushed seemed to twist on its linkage and didn't seem to pull the cable much at all. I'd make sure that everything between the pedal and the start of the cable runs smoothly first. I cant remember whether we had to repair the floor under your pedal, but I'm pretty sure the pedal has never been quite right. Probably my fault when i first did your car...............call me.

the pin that acts as a hindge on mine sometimes comes out and therefore the peddle doesn't go all the way to the floor. that could be it.
