Hi, contemplating on rebuilding an engine, looking at getting some good bits and pieces to assemble a reliable and strong bottom end .
Thinking it will end up being a 1775 , again reliability being the priority along with some fuel saving..
So im in the seach for a decent forged crankshaft and other bits to go with it..

Stan Pobjoy..............they're original forged vw cranks that are crack tested, counterweighted, ground, nitrited, 8 dowelled and balanced for around $770..........better than what you will get out of the US.

He is not in Syd but delivery is cheap, like $20 !

for general street use the new forged ones (Chinese) are ok, just get them checked and balanced by a machine shop prior to building. I woud check with George at ClassicVeeDub to see what he has. He should carry some of the CB Performance cranks.

at 90c in the dollar, you can buy some nice stuff, for a real good price out of the US.

demello cranks, start at $125 for c/w 69mm, based on an original VW crank. these are 8 dowelled too.
check out http://www.demellocranks.com/

costs about $100US to ship a crank, im sending one back to OZ today...
