Anyone use CAD programs?
Baja Wes - September 17th, 2002 at 10:26 AM

does anyone here use any CAD programs?

As part of my V6 transplant into my Baja I am making my own adaptor plate. To do this I need to draw both the vw and V6 flywheel in Cad, the vw bellhousing and the V6 engine bolt pattern.

So far I have drawn the VW 1800 flywheel and bellhousing. I am going to put the up on my site, so anyone can download them. Has anyone else drawn VW parts in Cad programs? It would be good to start a library of parts.

Wow!

I've had Turbocad on my home PC for about 5 years now (old version) but I've never used it. I planned on doing some diagrams with it for Club Veedub's magazine, but I found it was always faster and easier to draw things by hand, the old-fashioned way.

Now that is pretty and means you have way to much time on your hands..

If you're really keen and have the negineering use buy something like a farrow digitising arm......plugs into yer PC and you have perfect CAD! RhinoCAD is a very user friendly CAD program...

Then these files can be uploaded to CNC machines or laser cutters or whatever!

RobK

who's spent a fair bit of time digitising military aircraft cockpits.....

would you be able to email me the fuchs? I have access to microstation as well.

I don't think I have enough money to buy a digitising arm. If you have access to one you should digitise the cockpit of your vw :lol

Hey,

We have one of those farrow arms at work. I think they use it to measure up cars before and after they crash test them to see how much they deform.

I doubt they would let me borrow it though.
