another engine noise question (FIXED)
pod - December 29th, 2007 at 06:10 PM

i have a 1600 tp to go in the baja ,adjusted tappets to .006 starts up fine no oil light etc when revved no noises ,but when it backs off to idle it sounds like a diesel clackety clack,has a bit more end float than desired so will have to fix that,is there any other reason for the noise(lifters maybe??):grind:

only when backed off do u have a spare oil pump mate
and remember when fish had that noise that turned out to be his fan broken
:!:
to check that just drop of the belt and listern

tah have a spare one of them i can pull apart for the oil pump as it has a loose cam gear ,and if you mean fan got spares of them as well

greedy53 - December 30th, 2007 at 05:09 PM

yea i would try the fan first an easy test and an easy fix and more common than u would think
and i have 2 oil pumps here if ya need one

ok will try fan first:tu:

Quick Update::::::
just tried fan and it still rattled ,so next is the oil pump as to me it sounds like lifters as its a metallicy noise not a deep thump like a bearing gone west

ok good luck it would have been nice if it was simple
did u recheck the tappets i had one come adrift on me just after i did them probably me but nearly sold the bug because of it
