Clearancing bell housing on a 6v gearbox to suit 12v flywheel
Ian Bugden - January 22nd, 2008 at 05:04 PM

Hi all,
I do not know if this has been covered before but I am after any info in regards to where I have to grind the bellhousing inorder to suit a 12v flywheel. I do not yet have the flywheel so i can't throw in on the output shaft and see. I did however put the 6v one on and can't really see where to clearance.

It is a type 1 6v tranny.

Cheers for any help (pictures would be great as I am a bit of a visual man)

Ian.

u need t ogrind or file down the 4 bolt hole areas about 1 or 2 mm and about 25mm into the bell housing

its better if you have a loose 12V flywheel to test it with so u can see how much to take off

If it is any help,
the outside diameter of the 12V FW is 276 to 277mm,
And it protrudes into the bell housing about 36 to 37mm.

use a flapper disc, not a grinding disc :tu:

jam it in there and hit the starter ;)
