TYPE 3 ENGINE SWAP

Im taking my 1500 out off my 64 squareback and replacing it with a 1600 twin carbie out of a later type 3,IThe car im taking the motor out is an Automatic,I will be using a manual 1600 rebuilt gearbox,I need to know will I have to change the flywheel or is a Auto flywheel the same,If anyone knows please let me know.Cheers...Dame

Hi,
You will need to take off the 1600`s driveplate and put on a flywheel/clutch/pressureplate to suit the manual. Make sure your flywheel matches your starter which matches your transaxle. And dont forget to check crank endfloat when swapping flywheel. Cheers, Keith H.

And also,
The late engine will be 12volt if your 64`s still 6volt just in case you were not aware. Have fun.

Thanks Keith I had a feeling I would have to replace the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate and I have a manaul starter and all nessasary things have been changed to suit 12 volt .Thanks for the quick reply...Dame:kiss

dude - if you need a1600 manual type III flywheel in good condition I have a spare but I have no scotch left in the house!
