FLAT 4/BRM Centre Caps
frogman - February 25th, 2008 at 09:44 PM

Just wondering if anyone on here is running Flat4 /BRM's...
Did anyone else have this problem?

My cetre caps don't fit over the axle caps cos they stick out a couple of mm too far, especially on the left front with the speedo cable split pin :(
I can't hit them on any harder/further, & don't want to damage or lose a centre cap either... ??

Take them off and get a 25mm socket.
Belt the crap out of it so as the cap is concave

I think I have posted a big "how to" in response to someone else's question on here a while back.

Basically to get mine to fit I had to ;

A) take the dust cap off and grind back the threaded end of the spindle so it was flush with the lock nut
B) grind off a few mm on the lip of the dust caps (the edge that goes into the drum), and extend the little pie-cuts so it could effectively clamp in place
C) hammer the dust cap flat as per advice above
D) couldn't run speedo cable circlip so had to sit it flush with the dust cap and silicon in place (never came out)

Then the caps went on without any interference. Took a couple of hours and job was done.

Cheers
Al
