Fuel pump leaks after rebuild - need filter

Hey folks, here's a pic of my original german fuel pump from a 1600 single port (with generator):

It leaks fuel from the top cover, seemingly because the plastic filter has become distorted and doesn't sit nicely in the top housing (arrow indicates gap)

Does anyone have one of these filters they could send me, or know where i could get a new one? They dont come in the kits, tsch.

p.s. I'm also looking for the threaded brass adaptor part which you screw in to the body and allows for the 'push on' style fuel hose connection, if anyone has one ;)

well the seal is that flat rubber ring thats sitting there some times people tighten the boolt down to tight causing the sides to lift in places i would say that is the problem
you can check the seat on the lid by placing it on a bit of glass with a sheet of wetand dry put the paper on the glass and do a once only rub than see it there are any low points
also those push in pipes have caused more fires than i care to think about they pop out when you are driving along now you have fuel pumping all over a hot motor with sparks that are in the dizzy
i have seen people wier the hoses in but the other style pump is far better

Yup, this filter has been distorted in the past, probably by over-tightening and now it wont fit. Need another

anyone...?

p.s. I glued my brass pipe in after it came out - wont budge now ;)

Loose pipe at the carb is my potential problem, what type glue did you use?

the problem of the brass pipoes coming out is no stranger to me my bus poped 2 and why it did not catch fire is a mystery BUT the $3000.00 ghia bin our club burnt the entire rear end with his wife driving home from work and another 2 vw bugs have caught fire for bthe same reason if you cannot get the other type of pump than a piece of tie wire from the hose clamp than around and part of the carby or pump is better than nothing
and using the glass and wet an dry you can reseat the top back to a nice fit :blush:

I used superglue.

Anyone got this filter that I need, if we're all chucking out these old fuel pumps?

fit a clamp to the rubbertube and use some tie wire around teh pump body to act as a safety precaution
