Hi, have bought an offroad buggy, suspension is minus the front torsion bars as previous owner was starting a coil over upgrade. I am looking to get it going with torsiona bars "sourcing at the moment" but how long is a standard front beam??? its a king and link pin setup, but appears to be a couple of beams put together, ther are 2 locating bolts (pins?) on each beam tolock the torsion bars. Currentwidth of the beam tubes is 1025mm, can anyone advise if this is standard/longer/shorter???

Standard link beam is approx 800mm ridge to ridge
ie ridge is the seam of the plate ends of the beam

Would it be OK to run with no connection between the 2 bars in each tube?

Bit hard to see, but under the steering box is another set of anchors. can just see the edge of the lower beam anchor in the pic

my family has been offroading for 30 odd years so i hope i can help out.

when splitting and widening the beam, the norm would be to end up running four seperate torsion stacks. one for each trailing arm....................so if two beams were joined, it now should have two torsion centering points on both the top and bottom beams. not that they will be center anymore!

so yes, you will need to cut the torsion bars from two seperate standard beams. keep the stacks bundled together as they come out from the donor and cut them so you can use them in the same operational direction in your front end. this will help maintain their strength

Just need to do some measurements to see if I need 2 torsion bars or 4. hoping only 2 as they seem to be very hard to get a hold of..
