CB 044 Wedge Port improvements?
humpty - April 25th, 2008 at 10:35 PM

As the title suggests.... Is there anything I can do to improve my CB 044 Wedgie?....

Some of you may know that I'm building a long awaited 2276 EFI/Intercooled/Turbo engine and I'm hoping to actually start the build this winter...

So before I dig in is there any room for the layman to make improvements on these heads?

Muffin Man? Any ideas oh great Sage from the Nor East? Anyone?

Put a shim under the springs to stop chaffing.

You may like to dowel the manifolds if yours are loose from CB.

Remove sharp edges from the chambers.

Use a dummy valve to protect the seats from the rotary burr. (Raymond)

Perhaps check the valve job is to suit your valve size.
Some are 44 valve and have a seat to suit a 42.

Cheers Dave..... Will dig those babies out and have a gander at the seats.... That is a little odd that some 44 valves had 42 seats!!?? And thanks for the other tips.....
