Hi
I'm going to build a 1776 for my daily driver and use a few of the parts that I have around the place.
I have a pair of 40 DCNFs, thanks to caffeine pusher man. I cant seem to find any nice air cleaners for the DCNFs, apart from some that are only 1.5
inches high, so I thought I might make a plate to fit inside a IDF air cleaner base plate to adapt them to then to DCNF tops.
Has anyone done this?
Steve
I have the same carby in a box with a base plate to fit a square air cleaner, same as a holley 36/36. If I remember correctly the air cleaner
measurements are 147 x 90ish and are available in heights from 1.5 inch to 6inch. If you like I can post up a pic of the filter and carby and I even
have some part numbers for both paper air cleaners and uni filters too.
Other wise with a bit of care and measurement you can adapt most base or even fabricate your own (sometimes easier). Things to check are the overall
size of carby face to be covered, location of the bolt holes to secure the base plate (most times these need to be sealed up as they wont line up) and
also check the carby linkages to ensure they wont foul up.
Hi
Thanks for that, I was going to buy some VW specific 40 IDF filters as these would be the correct size. I planned on getting some thin plates plasma
cut to the correct shape to cover existing holes in the air filter base.
Steve
here are some pics, please ignore the dodgy aluminium plates they can with the car, been too busy to make new ones.
