I NEED HELP

With all the rain that hit Sydney this year, I have discovered a leak coming from the drivers side heater channel. More water enters the vehicle when it is stationary (outside parking lot at work) than when I am driving. I did notice leaking water from the chrome strip on the front quarter panel, but I have since replaced the seals on that strip and the front bonnet seal (this has minimized the amount of water entering the car). I can not see any water entering from the front inside the front of the car.

The front window seal looks new and in good condition, but was replaced by the previous owner.

Has anybody experienced such a problem before?

How did you resolve it? does anybody have any ideas, a way I can find the cause of the leak(s).

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.


I really need to locate and isolate this problem before it becomes worse. I love my bug

is the front bonnet seal ok on ya bug because you could be getting water in and it will run down the door piller and leak into the bug from on top of the heater channel the corner of the screen will do the same

Another idea - Are your door seals in good condition and behind the profile of the rain channel on top? I have had a leak before from the front of the rain channel down to the door seals around the door into the car at the hindge height, then around the pillar panel. Best way to find them is park the car in a garage to dry and then take in the rain for 5 mins then back to the garage and look for moisture or tracking.

Thanks for your feedback. I just purchased some westcoast metric door seals. They will be going on this week and let you know the result next time it rains.
