Hi , just got home and parked it in the drive.
Decided i was too close to garage door and decided to roll back. The shifter will not go into reverse as i cant raise the lockout tee, it`s seized, cant
pull it up to get the shifter in the reverse gate.Does anyone know what is going on and what is required to remedy this???
do You mean the clutch cable ??
if it goes in forward gears
its not the clutch cable...
the shaft bush under the gear shifter may have worn out
allowing the shaft to drop down...
[a wild guess??]
all i can suggest, it fit a standard gearlever
and see if it works...
also check the reverse lockout plate
they do wear and occasionaly break..
Lee
mm three things
1- If it is a SCAT Shifter then it will have a rod not a cable and the nut may have come off. Does the small T handle in front move up and down freely
?
2- If you have a SCAT quick shift then you should not also have a reverse lockout plate installed.
3 - If you have rolled back you may have simple loaded the gear selecters in the box. If your clutch isn't disengaging 100% then you will not be able
to free it up. I suggest putting the clutch all the way in and starting the car. Once running, if this is the issue you will be able to change gears.
broken cable or nut come of the rod
All is well, i have removed the shifter this morning, and had a good look at all the above mentioned.
It ends being the return springs on the lockout rod on the gear shifter were spring bound onto the rod tightly, this did not allow it to be engaged
.
I have stripped it down polished it all and assembled it back together and its working smoother than before..
Many thanks to those who replied..
