Twin Plugged heads
Robo - May 31st, 2003 at 08:00 PM

Has anyone done this on a VW engine in OZ, I have heard that it is common on aviation VW engines, is this so?

Yeah, I had a 2180 with twin plugs and two magnetos in a homebuilt aircraft. Nice setup. Ran a posiflow carb.

Ring Stan Pobjoy, he has been doing them for years for his VW aircraft engines.

I think a set went on a car.

Usually has them on display at the VW shows.:thumb

Thanks guys, just curious, I had my bike done a year ago, and it has given me about 30-50 more kays a tank, also stopped the pinging from the dishwater that we have for fuel in this country.
There is no dizzy on the bike, just dual output coils, how do they set it up with a dizzy ignition engine?

Hi Rhys
2 spark plugs for each cyclinder, better flame front, more efficient burn, less carbon emissions!
gives you better fuel economy, no extra power, but you get away with running a lower octane fuel, with little or no pinging, I have had it done on my BMW aircooled M/C and it has helped with all of the above things.
