Hello
Could someone tell me what these headlights are. They came outa a 73 1300, but Im pretty sure they arent standard. The headlight consists off the
chrome surround, a lens, a reflector and a plastic rim. One off the reflectors is no good so what would you guys suggest too do. Both lights have
the replaceable H4 globes. I was wondering if there is a plastic rim available that would allow me too slip in a sealed beam unit.
Thanks Trevor
Looks like a pretty standard light to me. I always thought that the sealed beam units were for the US market?
To my knowlage the reflective part is interchangeable between most aircooled VWs. The main difference between models would be the chrome surround and
the clear lens depending if it came off a Kombi, type 3 or beetle. All other bits should be interchangeable.

are you sure they are the standard h4 globes not the p43 base which is what vw used in their stock lights. they could be semi sealeds which are available at most vw suppliers. they come in both the standard base and the h4 base.
those are standard 68-74 bug headlights
75-76 had the semi sealed like mines got with single screw
and they take the P45t base which is vw only and getting harder to find
alot of aftermarket reflectors use the 3 prong P43t base that most main stream cars use try and get them if ur replacing the reflectors
makes getting new headlights bulbs so much easier
i had the reflectors on my first superbug rechromed
illeagle to have but geez it makes the lights bright
Thanks for the replies
So is there a headlight that I can purchase that slips into the crhome bit and replaces the rest. I would prefer to go with something that you can
get at any Repco or similar parts shop.
There is a base that you are missing
If you are interested i may have the bases and some of the VW H4 bulbs that fit
I have 'standard' aftermarket H4s in one of mine, they take a P43 (?) globe so easy to source/replace. To fit the Beetle, they require inner frame/mount thingos sourced from another car such as a HQ Holden etc.
