froger - September 19th, 2008 at 10:17 PM

Had a goog one today , changing the door latch on my 60 ute and the threaded backing plate let go on the other side of the pillar , lucky it had a custom rust hole in the bottom of the sill so it fell out.
Problem now how to get it back in place , don't really want to cut around latch area and tack it back in but maybe the only option , anyone have any ideas ?anyone had this happen before ?

can you tack weld some thin flat steel to the back of it and feed it up thruogh your custom rust hole.if so do that, feed it back up,attach it as normal then wiggle the flat until the tack weld breaks, job done.A friend of mine used thid method to put a seat belt mount at the top of a datto 1600 pillar.

try using one of those big magnets that are used for welding
