Golf Struts Into a Super
BiX - November 12th, 2008 at 08:09 AM

OK, this weekend i will pull the struts out of both of my cars and compare, but thought I would ask the questions first.

I have adjsutable (height, rebound and compression) front struts in my Mk1 Golf. Will they fit into a 2 bolt beetle?

I have spare springs etc for the struts so shuold be able to get the right height and spring rate etc. jsut wondering si the top mount is the same and so is the bolt spacing at the bottom?

Also how close are the rear shocks. I have 2 sets of suspension for the golf, 1 being the coil voers above, the other Koni struts...

Cheers

Drew

I'm interested in this info, too, so let us know how you go

I don't think the Golf rear shocks would be compatible with early Beetles

Drew, are the coil overs narrow springs?

stock golf struts have a massive spring that wouldnt fit under a bug, but most adjustables have a narrow coil setup which would work

im pretty sure the spindle mounting is the same but u will have to fit the Lbug upper bearing housing

golf ones have 2 screw mount were as supers have 3

Yeah they are jamex brand, with the 60mm spring, hence why iam looking at them. I will hopefully get a weekend soon to pull them all apart and do a compare. Would mike life easier if we cna jsut order golf struts for the supers.....
