when instaling my engine on saterday with my mechanic he accidently dented one of the tubes,its not creased or cracked and doesnt look like it is dented far enough in to be fouling the pushrod.

will this be ok?

i told him if it needs to be replaced hell need to snip it out and replace it with a spring loaded one, is that correct ??

You could take the rocker off and look down and see what it looks like

Personally i dont like the spring loaded ones
If anything i prefer the screw type

Why werent the bottom plates on preotecting the tubes??

I don't put the bottom plates on until the engine is in the car..

I actually drove My car for a couple of years without the bottom tinware..

It depends how much it is dented...
if the push rod rubs a hole in it...

but normally a slight dent won't hurt, so long as it doesn't leak...

if its bent too much, the push rod seal may leak, as it doesn't take much to make one leak.... lol

You can try to straighten it by hand...!!

I haven't had anything to do with the replaceable type push rod tubes but they are available...

Above info all good.
I use spring loaded QUALITY pushrod tubes (Scat or JC) in all my performance motors....they're good to use, dont leak and once you own them you wont go back.

As Matt does, I use the spring loaded aluminium tubes (SCAT)..............they never leak
