aintgotitmusthaveit - November 18th, 2008 at 09:33 PM

Hi guys,
Need to go electric fuel pump.
Any recommendations in terms of brand & rating?
Do I need a fuel pressure regualor or do I get an internally gated one with a built in pressure relief?
Will be running onon twin 40mm weber 1916cc (soon to be supercharged!).

Saw this anyones got experience with fedtro brand?:

Any idea what the stock pump delivers in terms of psi and volume flow rate?

Hi

Long story but I ended up with a Holley red pump on my daily, even rubber mounted its nearly as load as the motor. Im looking for a subsitute, so I might look into one these Bosch pumps.

Do you know if they have a lock off as in if the power is disconnected does the fuel flow stop, I've had 2 pumps including the Holley red and with both of them the fuel would keep flowing even with power disconnected.

I wanted to use them as a kill switch/anti theft device, but no luck so far.

thanks guys
Joel did you use a fuel regulator on it?
I also noticed you installed it in the engine bay.
I thought you needed to have it near the tank.

nah u wont need a reg with that pump
ive got 2 here a holley one and a malpassi turbo rising rate one and never used either of them

under the tank is the best spot
it was just on the shelf beside the engine temporarily cos i was to lazy to mount it up front will end up there eventually
it works fine, ive got down to 3L left and it was still pumping fine

I have a round black plastic pump that does stop the Car after the fuel in the bowl is used...
Car goes for about 200 metres with pump off....
its located under the tank...

I did get a fuel pressure regulator and gauge as i did have some flooding of the Carburetor...
the pressure regulator has the fuel down to around 3-4 psi
I only have one carby and a single port engine...

I have another pump - identical - that I carry as a spare..

the pumps on ebay are the way to go...
can be very expensive in shops....

I run a carter, once the engine is started can't hear the pump. Run a regulator and haven't had a problem.

Holley Blue for that application.

Carter with reg and 10mm lines with IDA 2332 mounted
in front with a vw efi filter before the reg at the engine.

Cheaper and quieter than a holley I think.

Hey guys can you also quote $$ and where to source one from?

BiX - November 21st, 2008 at 08:50 AM

I run the carter on a 2l 48 IDA motor. Though haven't fully tested it on the track yet.

Troy runs a carter on his Type 3 for keeping the swirl pot full from memory.
