No circlip, but usually a dificult job
remove the door
get a helper to support the door on a suitable support (pipe) under the hinge in question (with the door upside down cause your trying to drive the pin out via the top)
Belt the hinge pin with a fbh and a suitable drift.

OR

get the vw tool to do it in situ

OR

make a tool

someone on here posted pics a while back

Here's a hinge tool, don't even have to take the door off for this one:

I have been thinking for a while it would be beneficial for VW clubs to have these tools etc for the members to use.

If you BASH it out you will stuff the hinge and door completely use method as per above

Club Veedub Sydney has such a library of various VW tools and workshop gear for lending - but you must be a financial member to borrow. Come to a monthly meeting (next one on Dec 18) and enquire - secretary Bob Hickman is the custodian.

that IS one great Hinge Pin tool

Its the ONLY way to take a pin out without damaging
the door... etc...

Are New hinge pins readily available....???

without damaging the paint etc...

Any method will unfortunately bruise the paint.

well paining the tops and bottoms of the hinges wouldn't be a large problem...

much lesser than when the OXY Acetalyne is used to heat up the hinges

Anyone hire one out???
