Ok ...

a stock 1192cc motor ... still used in a daily driver.... about 80k orig miles on it.

Some times at start up it will blow a cloud of white smoke wich will dissapear after about 3 minutes of diving..... now it only dose this some times, and usually only after it has been sitting over night.
the rest of the time the motor runs like a trooper and never misses a beat.

any ideas ?

cheers

Maybe a little bit of oil dripping down into the cylinders and seeping past the rings ... that could give the smoke on startup.

I would just watch the oil levels (which you should be doing already ) and ignore it unless there was somethign else wrong.:bounce

i think we recently had this in a topic and decided that when it sits for a while the cylinders fill with a bit of oil especially when the car is leaning to the left or right.
i get it sometimes as i park on the street and the street is domed and the car leanes to the left all night....
try parking on a flat surface for a week and see if ti stops
hope this helps

Valve guides and piston rings. More likely to be Valve guides.
