Just a quick question , can you remove the shell on the beetle while keeping the motor inplace. And if so , im looking for information on where to find instructions on how to remove the body from the floor pan

yes you can, just need to unplug some wires etc.

Google it, just start unbolting.

Just be warned that when the body comes off you can't roll the pan as the body supports the struts. You can tie them togeather with rope etc to wheel it.

its easier with the engine out
but given the rust in your heater channels and your bug being a soft top i would be worried about it folding in the middle if you lift the body off
does your roll bar have the brace across to the windscreen?

also ive noticed on some convertibles that the chassis bracing is welded to the body as well as the floor pan which makes lifting the body off require a hot axe or lots of cutting discs

The silver stuff on the floor pan is belzona 1111 if anyone wants to know what it is
