Heads and cam and where the power are

I am guessing somewhere between 60 and 70 ponies at the wheels if you are lucky

I'm only new to VW's but this sounds very low. What sort of times (I know there are a lot of variants) would this put a beetle down the 1/4 mile in?

Well 100 does it in 15's
50 does it in high 18's

Stock does it in 21's

I am guessing a 65 pony motor would be low 17's

My 1916 ran 63.3 hp on the dyno with the big wheels on (it's a baja) They say i would have lost about 7-10 hp with the big wheels so around the 70 hp mark with normal wheels. Has stock heads, 009 dizzy and kadrons. Engle 100 cam maybe 110? can't remember, Scat solid rocker kit, heavy valve springs, Scat pushrods and thats about it. A friend of mine (davobuggy1641) has a 1641 in his buggy with a engle 100 cam and Some good head work and it pulls roughley the same hp as me...

As far as the hp being low, The vw's don't weigh all that much compared to a normal car so the power to weight ratio thing comes into play... When my car is running spot on i have chased vl commodores down no problem. I love it.
