Yes you can supercharge a 36hp I dont know if anything new will fit but if you want the old style look you can put a Judson on . Very easy to install as they were made for 36hp & 40 hp VW motors

Judson made superchargers for VW 36hp engines and 40hp.

I have one fitted

If you want one try Ebay.com but start saving your money now. They have been selling for over $1000 USD complete.

Dave's Judson 36hp sounds great and is about as fast as a 1300 Beetle. Not too bad for an old girl.

BTW, 36-bhp engines are still 1200 (1192cc - 77 x 64mm). The 40-hp engines are the same bore and stroke exactly, but are a completely different design.

The 1100 engines (30-bhp) were only sold in Australia for a very short time. The first cars brought in in October 1953 had that engine, as did early 1954 cars. By June 1954 they had upgraded to the 1200 36-bhp engine in the CKD kits they were assembling in Melbourne.

When i got my Judson I started to see what power gain there was supposed to be... if you can afford the bucks and find a complete set the powewr and performance figures for a set of Okrasa's is definetly the way to go.... but be prepared to spend some serious folding stuff

Okrasa not as common as a Judson, and twice the price.

I think the best option is the Ken Virgin twin Carbies, heaps more torque and better accelaration.

Ive had them both fitted to my Oval.
