just wondering if anyone can recommend a good VW mechanic in the SE of melbourne or mornington peninsula?

alternatively, if i was take to take my beetle to a normal mechanic, is there anything i need to know in terms of what oil to use, what to look for when servicing?

cheers

A good mechanic is great thing!

I'm sure there's lots great mechanics out there, but avoid [Deleted business name- Mod edit. Please PM poster for details], they screwed me over royally and I can not say enough bad words about them!

Took me a while, but I take my T3 to Volkscare in Boronia, which is out eastern melbourne. Easy to get to on the toll way and by far the best place I have been to.

Boris is the owner and he is great! Knows his stuff back to front, really good for advice and his work is fantastic! I could not recommmend any higher and ultimately he loves VW's and ticks all the rights boxes including prices.

I live in Northcote and its a fair hike to get there but for me it's totally worth the effort.

Volkscare number is 97299281 and in Boronia just of mountain Higway. Totally recommended!!

Cheers,
Dustin

I have to agree about Volkscare. Fortunately it's a two minute walk from work so not only is he good, he's ultra convenient too. More than happy to recommend.

Apart from VOLKSCARE, there is also Dandy Volks (Dandenong) and Aust. VW Performance Centre (Croydon).
You can tell the 'true' VW-mechnics, they will set the valve adjustment before doing any other tuning.
The non-VW mechanics will probably seal the oil strainer plate in with silicone sealant (and will ignore the valve clearances).

thanks for that brutus. both of those places you've suggested are closer to me than boronia.

Tucker Rd. Motors,
848 North Rd.
East Bentleigh
9570 9066
Ask for Dale.

I don't know if they're the *best* is SE Melb, but they're certainly very good.

I have had nothing but trouble as well from them and my bro had the same. I would steer clear.
