have a oil leak around the sling whats the best fix

vw54 - March 17th, 2009 at 10:48 AM

machine it out and fit a lip seal into place

vwsteve - March 17th, 2009 at 11:17 AM

mine has that too, so annoying! you can try and take the pulley off first and try cleaning the spiral grove first, it may help if blocked other wise like vw54 mentioned

Might be high internal case pressure from not enough breathing/ventilation, blocked breather or worn engine.

Or I have an engine here where the slinger was fitted backwards !!

Depends

WHY do you have crankcase pressure
Sure all motors have some
Even stock. That is why they have a breather hose.

What set up do you have at the moment for crank case relief?

looking at some pics of your motor the only relief i can see is a small than stock braded hose going down

Is that it??
Are your rocker covers vented??

If that is all you have i am guessing that is your poblem
