Ok I wish to put a new radio/cd player in my oval.
I still have the original radio in the dash so the new one will go into the glove box.
The problem I have is the glove box is not deep enough so I need to make a new one.
So is paper mache the trick or plaster mould and then fibre glass.
Any ideas of how I could tackle this problem.
i reckon that the best palce for a radio is under the dash. doesnt have to be prominent, you can set it back a little and no one will know its
there.
easy access, not obvious and simple to install.
thats where mine is in the 69 and Golde will get the same treatment.
I made a dummy box using timber. Cut a piece to fit about 30 mm or so inside the glove box lid and mount it that way.
Fiberglass would be my choice.
Why would you need to make a glovebox?
You would just need a mounting plate to screw it to and have the body hanging out the back tied to something.
What about mounting it in the kick panels below the front of the back seat. Left hand side. Sill reach it from the drivers seat. Replace the vynil
covered kick panels with MDF panels. Assuming your oval has them.
If you are like me the Ovals back seat will hardly ever get used because of no belts and no leg room. So no probs with the face of the CD player
getting kicked in.
