hi guys, like the title says, my steering is super heavy on my 64 beetle.
i have just installed drop spindles, discs, sway bar, and adjusters into the front end and have 6 inch fuchs with kumho 185-55's om the front and damn
its heavy. i been told it would be heavy but didnt think it would feel this heavy. i know its hard to explain or you guys to know as u cant feel it
but has anyone else done this and thought, shit i need some arnald arms to steer this.
i had a 71 super with big tyres once and i cant remember it feeling like this.
any suggestions..
Try driving a Baja Bus with 235/75R15 tyres at 15psi in soft sand.... now thats heavy........
bigger steering wheels make it alot easier cause of the leverage!
iF u like cal-look though.
Don't they say if u 'tighten up' your steering box it makes the free play less at the cost of the steering being harder?
Would anyone suggest the possibility of 'loosening' it up instead?
have u fitted castor shims
all soughted, it doesnt help running 10psi and 15 on the back.
AIR baby.....

so do u have castor shim fitted ???
suerly do vw54,one each side....
Castor Shims will make steering heavier at low speeds. BUT will also make it more stable at higher speeds. The heavy steering is a trade off that I
for one am happy to accept.
Cheers
