there thin and can get to the clips from the underside
Hi all,
I have a 1970 beetle, and I’m replacing the interior and exterior window scrappers. I managed to get the old ones out, however and can’t get the
new ones in. I was wondering if anyone has instructions or knows how to do it?? Would be greatly appreciated.
Dilemma.
Bugger of a job
Hope you have pulled the window to pieces. Glass out. 1/4 vent out
Then scarpers in
1/4 vent back in
window in
I'm doing the car up at the moment, its currently parked at Everton Park, however I Live at Wacol. do have you completeing take out the 1/4 vent window, i have already taken the glass out.
did you just get the rubber or the complete thing including the chrome surround ?
The job will require all glass to be out, including the 1/4 vents.
I found the new clips on the replacement parts to be slightly bigger and more fragile.
If any of your old clips survived, i suggest you re-use them - they seem to pop in better.
yer i got the complete thing, with the chrome surround.
use the OLD clips there the best
What "jedidan" said
and spray a "lube" on the clips before install ie silicon, wd40 etc
give me a call next time you are at the car, I am next door
at Everton Hills.
Good work Grahame
Not an easy job by any means

I just bought a set for myself today as I need it done as well.
What's the best way to get the top part of the chrome strip out from behind the channel at the top of the window? And also down the side. I was told
to pull the channel out but it seems rather fragile and looks like it will break with any decent amount of pulling. I've already snapped off a couple
of small pieces by trying to pull it out. I think I might just get some new ones of those too so I can just yank out the old ones. They're pretty
ratty lookin anyway so I'd say it might be a better idea. Was told they're about $30 for both windows so that doesn't seem too bad to me.
I really wish I didn't need to do this! But then I spose that's the only major work the car needs at the moment.
