Just wondering if anyone's got any advice for getting the doors to fit properly.
I know that doors 'drop' over time, but what's the remedy?
Also mine don't seem to close enough (if that makes sense?!) ie they stick out a bit from the car (see pic)
They are securely shut though, so there's no risk of them unexpectedly opening due to them not being on the latch, but obviously it's not ideal.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again for your help
Neil
is it the door that has dropped of has the latch dropped,
so when the door closes it is pulled down. this is any easy fix just reposition the latch or catch plate, but if you do this and the door hinges are
worn you will put extra load on the latch.
i hopr that all makes sence.
Ahh ok....door hinges *seem* ok.
Will have a look in a sec!
So also by moving the latch inwards a bit should pull the door in towards the car more so it doesn't stick out yeah?
you got it!
Righty...
Given that a go but the latch is adjusted as far back as it will go.
Also there is a bit of resistance once the door is shut about 98% (ie it's only open by about 4cm or so) and once it gets past that point you can see
the hinges having to pull towards the rear of the car to continue to shut it.
Hope i've explained that ok!?
Sometimes doors get out of shape after years of slamming. see if your door lines up at all places.
take the striker plate off the pillar on the car and adjust the door at the hinges to get the door lines alinging properly'
then fit the striker plate
Ok....
looking like the hinges are slightly bent
Also, when all of the door bolts are loosened, should it be possible for the whole door to go up a few mm? ie.. the mounting plates inside the
pillars...should they both be able to move upwards a bit or are they just meant to go side to side for adjusting?
there meant to moove all directions
are the door hinge pins good condition
