no idea i tossed it out years ago

theres 2 models

mine was a 2110 and the other was like 2300 or something like that

dunno what the difference was

Anthiron - April 6th, 2009 at 09:23 PM

everyone seems to have different opinions on what the models were etc,

some are saying the 200 and 300cfm units were both 2110 but had different list numbers, some say the 200cfm unit was a 2100 and the 300cfm unit was a 2110

im so confused. ha ha

thats it :tu:

funny how it all comes flooding back

Anthiron - April 6th, 2009 at 09:27 PM

if thats true then i have the 300cfm carb, which is not what i want :td:

Joel - April 6th, 2009 at 09:30 PM

whys that?

mine was the 2110
came off a worked 1600 single port what ever that was
i bolted it to a DCN manifold twinport but couldnt get it to run smooth enough

manifold was stuffed tho, someone had welded a bracket to it to hold an extra alternator and blown pin holes in it

ive got the old How to hotrod vw engines book somewhere
cos of the period that was written theres lots of info on bug sprays.
if i can find it ill scan the relevant pages

Anthiron - April 6th, 2009 at 09:36 PM

really? i have that book, ill have a read later, thanks for the heads up.

ive been told the 300 will be too big for my 1600sp, its got stock internals.

Joel - April 6th, 2009 at 09:55 PM

havent had it open for years but im sure he prefered bugsprays over webers

I had a bugspray on my 1640 years ago. Ran it with dual quietpacks, and it went like the clappers. The only problem I had really was ensuring it was jetted right. Other than that, no problems at all. A good startup carb for a small size setup. Good enough to blow away sixes back in the day.

Hi

I used to fit and tune them where I worked in the 70s & 80s with a bit of success, they are not as good as Webber but can be made to work OK.

The biggest issue is icing on damp days, this can result in a 2-3000 rpm idle, I cured this by running an old plastic ice cream container upside down on the air cleaner and running hot air into it with the stock paper hose.

The icing is caused by the mismatching between the 3 sections of the carby.

They also suffer from excessive wear in the throttle shaft.

I had a 300 Holley on a 1640 with a little bit of head work and thunder bird headers in a 72 Superbug and it did 18 seconds on the 1/4.

steve you wouldnt have any information on tuning and jetting etc?

ctefeh - April 7th, 2009 at 06:46 PM

Anthiron,
That's the one I sold you?
I couldn't find that partiocular LIST No anywhere either and believe me I looked. Did I ship you the Walker products exploded view?? I have the link saved anyway.

Jetting? What is in there at the moment? You've only got mains to worry about. If they are around 63 that is OK from anecdotal evidence, maybe a touch lean as you have no power valve (and don't want one either..). Just remember any V8 speed shop has Holley jets. 65 & 66 are popular stocks,

The accelerator pump has three holes in it for adjustment of the stroke.

Dredging the memory banks..a place called Hume Performance in Sydney used to flog Bugsprays back in the day and may be a good source of info as they are still going.

Lohoon (Lee's son) still runs one IIRC and could look at a jet size for you if you ask?

PS. A 200 and 300 have the same throttle base. The venturi diameter is the difference. 1 5/32 vs 1 5/16.

1303Steve - April 8th, 2009 at 07:37 AM

Hi

I always used the stock jetting. The accelerator pump can bind when you use one of the settings, you can fix this by giving the flap on the pushrod a very careful bend in correct direction.

Hume Autoquip closed years ago, I used to buy everything from Lynx, there closed as well, Hardimans might still have stuff for them.

I remember when I was a kid going to Hume Autoquip and buying candy apple paints for my push bike and looking at all the go fast stuff.

Steve,
Not Autoquip, these blokes : http://www.hume.com.au  .
Lynx? They moved from Sydney, still going but a reduced range.

Anthiron,
If it is the one I used to have, I can't for the life of me remember what jets were in there, and wouldn't have a clue what is stock. That proved difficult to find.
Like Webers/Dells, people ream Holley jets and don't bother marking them as such.

Hi Ctefeh

Thanks for that, I wonder if its the people from the Hume Autoquip? They were huge in the 60s & 70s.

I use to get a lot machining and balancing done at Lynx when they were on Parramatta Road at Burwood, they also had a wholesale division, guess that's what is still going. http://www.lynxcorp.com.au

yeah ctefeh its the one i got from you, its been sitting on the shelf for far too long.

custom vee dub is modifying a manifold for me so suit the carby.

i havent even pulled the jets out of it, i might check it tonite.

if you have a copy of that exploded view i would be very interested to see it

Anthiron,
I'll email is to you, it's in PDF format. Just do a find on 2110. It turns out mine (sorry, yours:blush: ) must be an earlier VW build because it has the spigot for vacuum advance.

Ctefeh

Anthiron - April 11th, 2009 at 08:44 AM

yeah i was looking at that vacumm port, i kinda get the feeling that is been modifyed by someone,

Anthiron - April 11th, 2009 at 01:40 PM

its got 50 main jets in it. does anyone know if they are stock?
