If you are taking your kombi 1600cc for a long drive on the national highways more than 1000km what spare parts / tools would you take?

take another fuel pump, plugs, points, coil, rocker gaskets, condenser, rotor button, dizzy cap, a piece of fuel line. and some toilet paper...

Fan belt, oil change gear and oil would be good as well. Air filter

All you need is a pray.... it a vw so someone will listen.
I drove my original '64 T3 from Bundaberg to Townsville and back (12 hours non stop each way) with out a hitch at all. All I can recomend is a spare bottle of oil cause old motors can chew that up when pushed.:thumb

Oh forgot to say

Leave your LEAD foot at home and drive the BRICK ( sorry Kombi Owners ) at a comfortable cruise speed of around 90 to 100 kls tops.

Lets face it trying to push a brick through the air takes up alot of energy, so it means a lot of wear n tear as well.

No doubt you will have that kitchen sink in the back from home and a ton of junk as well.

I would take my TOYOTA

I agree with Dave, ease up on the loud pedal. Not only do you save a heap of $$$ on juice, but you arrive more relaxed as well.

As far as what you should take with you goes, its a hard one and basically depends on the condition of your kombi and how you drive it.

There's always bad luck too. My kombi (1800) is in well-cared for condition, but still managed to drop a valve seat a couple months ago. I don't think many people travel with spare heads in the care, so something is always going to catch you out eventually. I was just lucky that it happened locally and not on my way up to Nambucca Heads in about 5 more weeks. :o

What about spare clutch cable and accelorator cable.
