This is a really difficult one to explain.
When I start the '62 Beetle, first thing in the mornings, I put it into first gear and just, very slowly drive out of our drive way, with my foot just on the accelerator, but still in first gear, probably only doing 750-1000 RPM and the car moves like I'm putting my foot on and off the acceletator. It's hard to explain, it pulses or surges, quick then slow. Then once you get going into the other gears, you don't notice it anymore. It's like I'm pressing on and off the gas pedal, but I'm not. I'm just keeping it in the same position. Has anyone got any ideas, it's got me buggered.

I think I know what you are talking about because I have the same thing but in 2 gears. I am not 100% but I think its the distributor because only started happening when I replaced it a few months ago. I will be replacing it with the old one soon to see if the problem goes away
