Due to the recent loss of a major customer at work, I may be facing redundancy. If my job goes, the company funding of my personal car goes too.
Fortunately there is a period of transition, so there will be some warning if it occurs.
My wife already has a reliable and modern enough car, so I plan to use the '67 as my daily and ditch the Holden ute.
The current 1776 combo is still great, but is now over 15 years old (will keep as spare). I think it is time for a freshen up.
Here are some goals.
1. Must be good in traffic & summer & not run hot
2. broad range of power, not too peaky, what is sensible max RPM ?
3. Re use my existing 45DRLA Dellortos
4. Heaters are not important
5. stroker vs stock open to discussion
6. Build it to last another 15 years like the 1776
7. New case, but which one and why ?
I would like to solicit some opinions on possible combos and why. Please dont turn this into a 1916 VS stroker debate, and I dont want to convert to
Subaru. There are some great VW minds on here, share what you know.
IMO, either a mild 1915 or similar size would be perfect.
Small cam like engle 100 or engle 110 and keeping revs to 5-6k rpm.
Pretty much the same as the engine that I am piecing together atm.
must give u a drive of my Orange Car
engle V-26 with 1.4 rockers will keep you with tourque and rpm sensible, being up to 6800rpm !!!!!!!................with excellent valve train
life.
get some good ported heads and you will be laughing.
