Starting issues
milestones54 - May 19th, 2009 at 09:21 AM

Hi guys
Im having a problem with my s/b at the moment. For a while now iv had problems with charging (i have a standard generator and people had said its on the way out) which may or may not still be the case, but the car isnt actually starting.
The battery is sitting at just above 12v, iv recently bought bosch glue coil and new regulator, the car is kicking over but not starting.
Could this still be the generator? as im dying to uprgade, or could it be something else?
If so, is the conversion from gen to alt a professional job or could it be done by myself?
Thanks in advance

So it's turning over but not firing? Check the plugs and the leads for starters.

start at the beginning tu if coil has power turn on and with a screwdriver flick the poin ts should get a spark if you dont rn on see if power to coil than from there change the points AND the condenser and make sure the coil to dizzy cap is ok
good luck

so you turn the key and you dont even get a click? Are the lights on the dash coming on?

id bet on your coil being wired up wrong, check your wiring, if it wont start but the starter does kick over then its not the battery.
