porsche wheels on 1303 (L bug) help
cesiumfrog - July 20th, 2009 at 10:18 PM

i have a chance to get some wheels 16x6 and 16x8 with an ET 52.3
i'm hoping some of you super guys may know if they are likely to fit.
have done searches but is difficult to determine exactly what wheel sizes/ET are likely to be successful, so any info regarding sizes and specifically ET would be appreciated?
is a 1974 L bug......2 bolt strut.

not a chance without skinny/tapered springs / coilovers for starters from rough calculations on this

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

check out germanlook & superbeetlesonly for more info on bugs with porsche wheels, also depends on your brakes, standard? redrilled or adapters to suit the wheels etc etc, all are important variables, i think you would need about 10-20mm less offset, that said i have a far from standard setup, hopefully Joel will read this as he has stock guards & fits a 7" rim under them i believe :) good luck with it though as a super looks great when nice wheels are added

Hi

Are you sure about those ETs?

I'm running 17x7 with a 55 ET on my daily with 2 bolt struts and they fit fine, using the above site on the front you would have 16mm more inner clearance and 10mm better clearance on the outside and as STIDUB said you will need skinny struts.

On the rear I'm running 944 brakes so that makes what I'm using irrelevant. But I do know that 16x7 with 23 ET works on the rear, so again using the site, compared to a 16x7 23 ET wheel your 16x8s would give you 42mm less inner clearance on the inside and 16mm better clearance on the outside.

So on the rear 8 will fit but you may need to run spacers.

Wasn't there a set of struts and wheels on here for sale?
