What seems to be the go....
Mates 1916 seems to have a Intermediate Popping out of Exhaust at idle....
Its not like its on every stroke.....
seems a little strange...
blocked idle jey or passage.
start by pulling wires till it stops. Then clean that idle jet. If taht doesnt fix it the crud could be in the passage way. You will need to pull the
carb and give a real good clean. 95% it will be the jet though
Thankyou.....
Sounds like a job for the Pro's!
( i dont like playing Carbies)
It will be the idle pilot jets, especially if they are IDF's.May also be sucking air if the gaskets are old or the manifolds are loose.

Has he checked the tappet clearances?
Blue, wouldn't the jet that DOESN'T stop the engine when you pull its wire off be the one that is blocked? :alien

Pull one lead and then replace (repeat for all 4 leads at the dizzy) the lead that can be removed with the least amount of change in engine revs/sound will be the blocked one!:thumb
