Whiney dual cab ute.......
dubsurfer - August 16th, 2009 at 12:53 PM

G'day all my Dc has developed a loud whine from the rear.
The noise gets worse as I put wait onto the right side of the vehicle (going round corners)
The noise does not go away when I drop the clutch
The motor and gearbox where rebuilt 10,000 ago
My suspicion is a rear wheek bearing as i put 16' wheels on about 3 months ago. When I jack car up there is very little play (front/ back movement in wheel)
Any suggestions

Thanks again in advance, you guys have saved me thousands in repair bills in the past. cheers, dubsurfer.

By the sound of 'getting worse with load' I'd say wheel bearing. Even without excessive play. should be whisper quiet if you spin the wheel by hand when vehicle jacked up with wheel off the ground.

I'm with Matberry it has got to be wheel bearings, particularly as the noise changes as you go round corners.A set of bearings should fix the problem, don't forget to use good high temp wheel brg grease. cheersl Les

or fan hitting shroud take of belt and run see if it has stoped ,other wise do the wheel nuts up very very tight
