Type 1 Cooling on Type IV

I currently have a type 1 1600 and a type IV 1800.

I want the type IV power but I still want to keep the look of the type 1 Cooling. Does anybody know where I can get a conversion kit and how much?

its available from a few places including sharpbuilt and vforce.
about 700 i think is the kit but you need to get the input spigot bush for the flywheel as well as they are different and i know sharpbuilt does not include it

I fitted one for a customer, and had to call and order several items that are needed to make it work, but not included.
The kit in its std form is kind of nasty. The nuts and bolts supplied to bolt the fibreglass tins up are fiddly at least. It would be a pain in the ass to assemble on a stand, let alone in the engine bay once the block it installed.
I fitted all the tins with nutserts so the tins screw up like a std type 1. Plenty of mods, and tweaking, but once all done the kit looked and worked well.

yeah think kit with all extra tinware runs about 1grand thats with you supplying alt n fan housing

If you want to upright convert a type 4 on the cheep you could do a "Cali" conversion.
These use a combination of bits from the type 4 and type 1 cooling systems. A chap in America wrote and distributes a book on how to do it. You can find plenty of info on "Shoptalkforums.com"

It would be more work than the kit though.

When I got my kit from Sharpbuilt it came with everything including the bush and went together very easily I thought and has never been a problem. I had it in my buggy now for at least 5 years could be longer.

why not build a good 1835? same capacity a lot less messing round.
