Hi all,
Been thinking about replacing the old rusty/krusty tail pipes.
Please excuse my ignorance....
Is it just a matter of losen the clamp, slide out the old pipe and slide in the new one?
I've been dying to get some hands on experience, I figured that it'd prob be a good place to start without causing too much damage... :P

Thanks for the advise jboy82!!
Hey Ron got a manual for your car yet, dont get too dirty before you get one, tailpipes will push in as far as you want you have to know the distance for your model, mines a 67 beetle so it goes in 1.8inches next model after that is 3.4inches,have fun,Mick.
Pretty simple job, dont buy the BRAZILIAN tailpipes as you will be replacing them in about 6 months cause they rust in less than a week.
Most important do not push the pipe to far into the muffler as this will cause problems.
Get a piece of wire n bend a hook on the end then slide into the muffler and see how far it goes in, this you can relate to the tail pipe.
You know you can buy These extensions genuine still from your local VW parts dept @ about $36.00ea

we found it very hard to get the old ones. ended using a stilson. it can be really hard to get out if they are rusty.

Huh! They have clamps on them?
Our Beetle just has them pushed in!
