Okay as a Beetle noobie, what are the main things you should keep as spares? What should you always keep in the car just in case??
Fan belt
points, rotor, dizzy cap and condenser
Metric 1/4" drive socket set
8mm, 10mm and 13mm open/ring spanners
fuses
screw driver set
electrical tape
multi meter
wheel brace - i like the extenable socket ones
electric pump
pliers
BFH
All lives under the back seat on the other side to the battery
for street use barry is on the money, id add a clutch cable and throttle cable to the spare parts though. unless u had them spare at home and got a
tow.
if your engine lid doesnt lock then a spare lead or two doesnt go astray either, the youth of today (shakes fist)
i carry a lot more than that in my baja though
dont forget the torch
I do carry a spare ignition coil. It once came in handy
sandpaper, a can of touch up spray paint, cut & polish cream
and i don't think anyone mentioned jumper cables. in case you left your light on in a motel car park.
a litre can of engine oil, in case you did a service and didn't close rocker cover properly, come and think of it a pair of rocker cover gasket
aswell
i was taught a long time ago that a tool box only needs 3 things.
wd40 for when it should move but doesnt
duct tape for when it does and shouldnt
and matches when the first two dont work.
and a screw together wire joiner for use on cables when they snap these make really good fixes
i carry spark plugs a dissy pre set,coil,regulater,2 meters or electrical wire and some plane wirer, tappet gaskets, and tools a 13 mm.12mm,14,a plug
socket,plyers4 screw drivers wier cutters, pliers and tape, and last but not least viagra so i can do to it what its doing to me
