Different sources state different datas on the retard of the third cylinder....we've measured Bosch 009 and it fires spot on 90 deg. Is this right or it supposed to be retarded?

they were retarded about 20+ years ago......not anymore.

they were only retarded on # 3 to reduce heat in that cyclinder as is was pre heated with the old style oil cooler inside the fan housing

with the advent of the doghouse cooler it reduces the hot air flow to this area
so hence the spark can be at 90 deg same as the other firing positions

Thanks, this is all clear to me...does anyone know, from which year / model and type of distributor is this a regular thing ? What about SVDA ?

I think you will find most vw genuine dizzy's have the retard on 3......try and find a genuine german 009, it should have it also :cool:

The reason for my questions is just that...I have genuine German 009 and it's not retarded...just as 010 and 050...
