Engine over revving
oval TOFU - September 18th, 2009 at 01:53 PM

Heyall
My friend's kombi occasionally revs too high in idle -- this would be a carby issue wouldn't it? Sticky butterfly or something?

Thanks

Could be an airleak on the intake.

tell him next time it revs high spray some wd40 around the carbie/carbies and manifold's if the revs drop, there is an airleak there.

My baja had the same thing with my webers, It was a leak that only leaked sometimes. weird.

Good luck
Mick.

i would say that the cable is on the way out and the frayed edges are catching the case there cheeeeep and easy to fit

do you know if its a later duel carb pancake engine?
the linkages are ghastly on them and often do that

Type 4's have an issue with an elbow that goes to the brake booster leaking on the vacuum side

This would cause a lean idle hi rev

Thanks for the suggestions guys - I'll check with my friend and hopefully we'll get it sorted!

Cheers!
