Well I have had an old '58 beetle for about 10 years now just gathering dust in the old shed so I thought in tradition of all the custom car shows I
might throw it on bags.
Now this looked easier than first anticipated, however I am starting to get my head around it all. Seeing I haven't seen any posts on this I would
start a little build thread of my own.
Here is the pan getting the back end ready for the rear bags.
Swing arms cut for nice low height
Brackets for Airkweld style air bag arms (Designed my own as they were expensive as all .....)
Ride height of bug looks nice and low, hopefully with front beam in the next few weeks it will be real low
keep the pics coming
Will do, working on the rear bag arms tonight. Front bags coming from the states as we speak. So hopefully do the front beam next week.
this should be very interesting, can you let us know how much it will set you back too?
OH man i love bugs on bags. They look awesome. Can't wait to see the build process on one
how hard is it too bag want to do it to my 61 and i herd that you need to bring the front beam in 2.5 inches on each side to make it sit flat and lift the motor 1inch
So far so good.
Have ordered 6mm steel and bar for rear arms (Did not have enough at home), front beam steel has been ordered (4 inch narrower) and front bags should
be here from US in two to 3 days.
Pics will come soon once there is some more progress. I will have templates for all brackets on CAD as they are being laser cut this week.
Thought I should put up something as the Laser is going off tap with a really big job so the brackets have been put off for a couple of weeks.
Here is some of the equipment that is going into the bug.
Bags
Controls
Air control components
Hmm yummy front shocks. Accidentally ordered two sets!!! Oh well looks like a bus or type 3 may have to go onto bags now
mmmmm.......pressies..... : ) Keep the pics coming. Good job.
