i want to extend the shaft for the accelerator pedel to get it further away from the brake pedel, I'm sick of going for the brake only to find I also
still have a boot full of the go pedel . I have another pedel
cluster from a 72 but don't know for sure what year the one is in the bugy so my first question is this, are they all the same or do I need to pull
the one out of the bugy to check, secondly, is there any tricks I should watch for, I was figuring on simply adding a bit to the spare one I have then
swaping them over.
Thanks
Don
dunno about extensions...
But there is an early set and a late set of pedals for the type 1 chassis.
EARLY:
LATE:
The standard shaft is not very well supported, and if you extend it out it would need an extra 'bearing' of some sort. If you don't do this the
shaft will most likely bend - especially if you have twin- carbs, with extra springs etc. It can be done (I've done it), and the bearing can be
quite simple. Good luck with it. The other thing you may consider is a pair of (narrow) driving shoes - seriously!
Cheers, Greg
I'd need to bind my feet to make em narrower as I usualy drive bare foot, looks like i have a late one in there now except that it has a "built up"
section just before the shaft enters the larger suporting tube, I like the idear of the additional bearing though so looks like I'll do it that
way.
Thanks
Don
The other thing to check is that the shaft on the brake pedal isn't bent over towards the accelerator pedal. It may be just a matter of bending it over.
