to narrow or not to narrow...

opinions please guys...

planning on cutting my front beam to put in adjusters and was thinking about narrowing 2" due to the wheels being pretty close to protruding past the edge of the guards. but now im having second thoughts about the narrowing.

its a '72 bug, balljoint front end with Performance Superlite wheels (unsure of the offset), 195/60 tyres.

any opinions would be appreciated!

If it is rubbing, I would narrow, not a hard thing to do, but it will affect your turning circle a little bit. However if you want to lower it any more, it may be a necessaty.

Yeah, agreed, narrow it. Plus, if you're only going 2 inches you wont need to recess the body for the shock towers so It'll be nice and easy. You can go 30mm each side and not effect shock tower clearance.
I posted a bit of a thread about narrowing a beam in the tech talk section called "First timers guide to beam modification" or something like that. It shows how straight forward it is.
Hope that helps.

Pity you're so far away. I'd be keen to do another one.

You'll have to post some pics when you get it done. I love superlites on beetles. One of the only mags I actually like on them. Good stuff : )
